Singapore retail sales rose up 25.8% in June
In June, retail sales showed an increase of 25.8% compared to the same month last year, and 19.0% excluding vehicles, according to the Department of Statistics Singapore. This is due to the low base in June 2020 when physical stores were closed until late June because of Covid-19 restrictions.
Seasonly adjusted, retail sales went up 1.8% month-to-month and 0.4% excluding motor vehicles. In sales value, during June 2021 retail sales were S$3.3 billion where online sales proportion made up 15.4% and excluding motor vehicles the figure was S$2.7, of this online retail made up 18.4%
Online retail sales as a share of the total sales of the following industries were:
- Supermarkets & Hypermarkets: 14.4%
- Computer & Telecommunications Equipment: 57.5%
- Furniture & Household Equipment: 32.8%
